I have a breadth of experience in video content both in and out of my 9-to-5; I have been producing and editing videos since I was a child. What started as a hobby has grown into an unyielding career ambition, and I'm proud to have built a portfolio of projects that exhibit my outstanding video content skillset.
All of the videos I make are conceptualised, filmed, and edited by myself in my small studio flat. From music videos to elaborate comedy sketches, I'm immensely proud of the high-production value content I've been able to produce with just a phone, a green screen and a vision.
Video Production & Editing
WRRIR Music Videos
Under the moniker WRRIR (pronounced warrior/worrier), I create cover art, photography, music videos, and other visual content to support my musical output.
With each song I make, I have a clear vision of how it should look, from the colours to the choreography. I do my own hair & makeup, I make props and costumes, I construct set pieces, design lighting, and use my boundless resourcefulness to ensure I totally fulfill the concept I have in mind.
Whether I've storyboarded shots or I'm exploring ideas as I go, these videos are a true exhibit of my creativity.
From ideation to filming/performing to editing, I do it all on my own in my flat with limited tech and equipment but loads of ingenuity and determination.
When Joseph Met Rudolph
When Joseph Met Rudolph is a series of comedy videos where I play both Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Joseph (of dreamcoat fame), discussing what they've been through and the similarities in their stories.
I shot this all in one take - first doing Rudolph's part (all improvised), before changing into Joseph's outfit and doing his bit. Because it was all improvised, I had to try and remember what Rudolph said in order to figure out Joseph's responses on the spot, as well as filming various reaction shots.
I then took all the footage I had and pieced it together to create what looks like a genuine conversation. This required some very crafty editing.
I'm also proud of my versatility as performer, improvising each character with distinct mannerisms and speech in a single take.
Mug Review
Mug Review is an improvisational video I produced in 2020.
While seemingly fairly simple, this video exhibits my creative editing skills. I believe a lot of the comedic value of Mug Review comes from the very careful editing and timing.
This exemplifies just how much of a difference good editing can make.
There are also portions of the series that showcase my ability to produce more cinematic, artistic content. The colour-grading and blocking of the sequence that opens Part 4 of Mug Review shows my relentless creativity.
A vast majority of the 20+ minute video series was improvised or retro-scripted.
Charly Haze - Backfire
In 2021, I was the creative director, producer, and editor of a music video for a local musician Charly Haze, demonstrating my ability to collaborate with others, understand and execute concepts and briefs, and develop ideas that reflect the client or customer's values and vision while ultimately staying focused on the goals of the project.
I'm particularly proud of the fact that I completed this work remotely at the height of the pandemic, having never met the artist in person.
I worked with Charly to define the overall concept and brief, and then storyboarded ideas to present to her. Then, I remotely directed the video shoot, advising on blocking, framing, lighting etc. from afar.
Charly sent me the initial footage I began editing, and we explored additional ideas from there for a second shoot. I continued to share previews and make amendments based on Charly's requests before delivering the final product in under a week.
During this time, I also produced several vertical social media teasers and stills to promote the release.
All of this was done after hours, outside of my full-time job.
